The Muse's Dart

Unkind are fires within the heart
that rage as if untended
Unkind, the mountain muse's dart
to strike one undefended

For high the crests of mountains thrust
and high my lover's leading
To follow him, oh dare I trust
forsake my mind its pleading

It was no more than three days last
that I recall denoting
just how serene my minutes passed
a notion now exploding

For as my lover tread the span
through mountain meadow striding
That muse's cursed dart did land
'pon where my heart was hiding

Ahhhh once again the power of the poet and the weapon's we have.  An arsenal with so much force we can either take one down or send them on a flight of fantasy and even launch them to the stars.  Very beautiful.

This is so lovely, pretty, really might better describe it, and the flow is wonderful....

I recall when I first found this sight...I was in awe of your poetic prowess.

I am glad to see that some things do not change in six long months...you still paint with pretty words a picture clear and vivid.

Martie, thank you. Unfortunately, perhaps, I've become quite skilled at hiding my heart from her aim....

Sudhir, your generous response is very much appreciated...I thank you for reading.

Heather, indeed, she is busy with that bow. Thanks, Heather.

This is lovely (of course), but the finishing stanza is a true coup de grace.  Caught me off guard with its simple finesse.

Just keeps getting better.

Claire -
I've learned - thru my own experience writing - That we can write realistically about unreality - (a love I don't have - etc) -
I'm learning a whole new set of things about writing poetry reading your wonderful creations - (and I too especially loved that last verse ~G~)
