Universe of Words

There are twenty six letters for all to share
Put some together and a universe will unfold
Alpha bet soup for sure as we dine with such care
Mixing and blending so that our little stories are told

Verses of lines are brought forth in a family of rhyme
Paragraphs of prose filled with imagery live in deep trust
The magic of each poet breathes eternity knowing no time
The words of yesterdays and tomorrows shall see no dust

These twenty six letters are what we cherish each day
As we search deep within our souls to bring to the light
All our thoughts running through as we come to say
Penning them to paper is the life of the poets plight

So if you are looking for that all important word
And the Websters is ruffling in your hand in flight
Know now that all your little prayers have been heard
As you just penned another poem in the depths of night

Mark Bohannan

Oh Mark ... what an eye-opening way to look at this. Sort of has my mind in a whirl as I picture the simplicity of 26 letters verses all the incredible and varied results of their combinations we read here daily. Wonderful thoughts to ponder this morning!

Best wishes,
/Kit

The thought is indeed a profound one when you stop and think about the imeasurable possibilites that stem from a mere handful of characters. Good work, Mark.

Mark - great theme - of course, if you are like that rascal Toerag, you maay have MORE than 26 letters at your disposal - lol.  Good job - I like the closing verse, especially.

Mark--such variety, so many stories-on pages, so many tears weep the alphabet, so many smiles light from just a few letters.  It is an amazing thing...and you have penned it so beautifully here.  Great poem!

"Mixing and blending so that our little stories are told"

Mark, I love your ideas in this piece, my poet friend. What I find so immensely fascinating is that we "each" have our own unique system and craft for combining these simple, singular characters in such an  array and arrangement as to be able to express our individual selves so differently and distinctly.

What a theme you have here!

Why Mark, I do believe you've taken a quilled pen, a silk ribbon, and tied the best of everything into this lovely, appropriate poem.

Yes, Mark seems we were on the same wavelength this morning. I read this poem but didn't have time to respond
Very well done, my friend

Kit--I am glad that I was able to give you something to ponder.  Thank you for your loyalty to me and my poems.  You are always so sweet.

Brandyn Sand-it is the power within us all and I have learned that poets use them better than most.  Thank you much.

LJA-thank you and who says I dont have more.  didn't you see them in my other posts...where were you then huh?lolol...guess you will have to wait now sir.

Marge-I really enjoyed flying "first class" with you and Liz last night.lol...what a flight it was.  And here I thought that schooling was over for me.  What a ditz I was.

rosepetals25-if I could show you that then I am one happy poet.  Thank you much for your kindness.

Martie-as you know; I hope to some day use them as well as you, but at least I know the possibilities are there.  Thank you my friend

PDV-I am glad to have something in my arsenal you can relate to.  thank you.

Claire-that is what is so amazing to me.  A handful of letters can stir up a universe of emotions and souls and never once be the same.  It is the power of the poet and all who use them.  Each one with ever changing personalities.  Can you imagine all the split personalities each letter of the alphabet must have and they must be willing to mingle with ALL the others to survive.  Thank you so much....and few use them better than you my friend.

karilea-and I bow to your ever pleasing grace.  Now I suppose you would like me to shine those heels for you while I am down here wouldn't you?LOL

Sudhir-who else my friend.  Thanks so much kind sir.

JM- I think that those 6 letters are the most lovely of all.  Dont you?  Thank you my friend ..... you know I love you.  Now back to the "REAL WORLD" with you.  Now go on....just like you....wanting to be the last to leave a party.  Go and get some sleep girl...we have much to do on Monday for you.  hugs.

Liz-So did you like the flight as well as Marge and I did?  It is amazing how great minds think alike and travel alike isnt it?LOLOLOLOL.....me dreaming that I was up with the likes of you two.lol.  Thank you my friend.

With a seemingly infinate combination of letters to choose from, sometimes it is still hard to find the right words to say when I really appreciate the thoughts, the emotions that come forth in one's poem...as this is the case now. I enjoyed your poem very much!...chanson~

chanson-isnt it amazing that when we have endless possibilities that it is so hard to meet the challenge but when we are limited we rise to the challenge and blow it away.  Thank you much.

catalinamoon-WOW a perfect.  7 letters of praise to make my day....thank you so much.

Mark - 26 letters, unless you happen to be Greek. Still it wouldn't matter how many letters when you put them together so well.
