Awaken thee as dark of night is swept, From sky by whispered hush of dawn's first breath, Lets loose new day, o'er distant mountain kept, 'Neath firmament of heaven's spacious breadth. As evening's stars, in evanescence flee, Before advancing light of Helios' reign, Recedes the tide of night's celestial sea, Exposing mountain peak and verdant plain. Begone the cloak of midnight's ebon skies, Feathered hymnists, as nature's minstrels sing, In heralding, advent of day's reprise, In splendored awe, to us doth dawning bring. The sun, and wind, and rain, arise and greet, As comes the dawn, champion of night's defeat. [This message has been edited by Mike (edited 08-24-2000).] |

There you go with that oh so beautiful style that melts a reader in her chair. What a beautifully descriptive sonnet you have penned. The first and last line are perfect.....but then again so is all of it. You are WAY to talented, in case you are wanting an opinion. ![]() PS. Did I tell you, you are WAY to talented? lol Jenn E |

I don't know when, if ever, I have had the pleasure of experiencing a more breathtaking piece of poetry. "Exquisite" cannot do this jewel justice. Thank you, sincerely, for this gifting, my friend. ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

Mike~ A breathtaking dawn ~ 'Begone the cloak of midnight's ebon skies, Feathered hymnists, as nature's minstrels sing' 'As comes the dawn, champion of night's defeat.' Just lovely. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Mike - did we watch dawn together. It certainly feels like it. Although your rendition it more poetic. ![]() Be well Kethry "It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures; but it is the loss that shapes the image, gathers the flowers weaves the garland."- |

Kethry-each dawn is a beauty unto itself, I thoroughly enjoyed yours. Thank you for the reply. Serenity-smiling here... I don't know that I am one to study, I tried to avoid that (studying) in school. I am pleased you enjoyed the poem. Thanks. Catalina- I appreciate the gracious remarks. Thank you for replying. |
