Wish of a Former Tree

Please cover me with your love
For my body aches for a touch
Please shower me with your love,
For my form desires this much.

Please come to me and be my guest,
Please perch on me, O dear dove,
What I was now is, a bench to rest,
But my soul still is a stub of love.

Place yourself on my dead shape,
I am chiselled to hold your grace,
Seat your body over me and gape
At the smile carved upon my face.

Rest a little, for later you've to fly
Into the vastness of deep blue sky,
This solemn wish, please do comply,
Then if you must, leave to soar high.

Rest for a few moments on this wood,
Broken remains of where I once stood.

~~~
Sudhir~
You've set a sweet smile upon my face
this beautiful morning.
The wood of life speaks to me
just as you've described.
Many times in the swamps of the South
we walk and stand upon the Cypress stumps
and recall the voices of our people.
The wonderful song master, John Anderson,
said it best in his stirring 'Seminole Wind'.
The wood of many trees
across our land ... speak.
Enjoyed so much.
I loved this..it's beautiful in many ways...I have a dying tree here..hmmm a dying love too ( what a coincidence) anyway I  am in mourning over both for the  comfort from that tree these last 20 years and the 30 for the loving memories that will soon be only those and never to be shared again...oh shoot..don't know what I am trying to say here...loved your poem
Thank you Maureen for coming by and sharing the part of your life... not that was not rambling... I am so glad that you felt you could share that piece of information...
Sudhir, I have a lovely ghost of a cottonwood tree in my pasture, you have brought forth its thoughts quite well...often it is the harbored home of many a bird, even in death, it lifts life...
Well well done, my friend...you have a Muse at your elbow...treat her kind, and kiss her for me...
Sudhir, your poetry speaks fluently with much metaphor, my friend. This is, indeed, a lovely piece of writing.
i dont know how i let this one pass me by but i must say this is beautiful...the imagery and the rhymes...and the subtle nature of this poor tree...longing only for a bit of love..how sad...how very sad
yet how common it is for those who are hurt to internally cry for help, yet don't receive it...how sad..thank you for letting me ramble lol
Oh Sudhir ... this will become one of my favorites of yours! It's difficult to express how this one touched me, without sounding a bit odd ... so I'll simply say I hear the voices of nature when she cries.  Well done Sudhir!
Best wishes,
/Kit
Sudhir, Sudhir beloved one, the imagery of death comforting the living and the living taking shelter from the dead is superb.
