Mother At Heart - Double Kyrielle Sonnet

A Mother cherishes beyond measure
Each offspring's individual treasures
Her love unconditionally endowed
By softness of kiss on her young one's brow.

She silences monsters under the bed
With prayers for the frightened huddled in dread.
Croons in calm tones as warm breeze swaying bough
By softness of kiss on her young one's brow.

A scraped knee...or two, she fixes with ease
A stern nod of head when one forgets "Please?"
She teaches sound manners, what she'll allow
By softness of kiss on her young one's brow

With fierce protection she guards, safe from harm
By softness of kiss on her young one's brow

With fierce protection she guards, safe from harm
When one's sad she bakes cake, works like a charm
Lessons in French, Oui and Italian, Ciao
By softness of kiss on her young one's brow

Early she wakes (might feel like wilted rose)
To fill empty bellies, wipe a red nose
Brightening new dawn, thankful for the now
By softness of kiss on her young one's brow

A Mother will hold them close to her heart
Wish for each one good luck when they depart
Will love them forever, this she will vow
By softness of kiss on her young one's brow

Nighttime aproaches, she bids them sweet dreams
By softness of kiss on her young one's brow

Butterflies_dont_cry,

Your children will remember the warmth of each kiss when tucked in, I'm sure. I know mine will.
Thank you for your sweet response and for the nice welcome  ...chanson~

I am also new and I totally love your peom.  My mom and I are very close and I work with children.  I haven't really thought of writing poetry about my mom usually about boyfriends.  I will try to write one and see how I do.  I love yours and don't think I could top it it has great flow and is very touching yet comical.
Great Job

ethome, I'm not a huge fan of the sonnet (I like to read them but I don't like to write them. *grin*) Thank you for the welcome!  ...chanson~

Randi, I've no doubt that you will write beautiful sonnets. Good luck! (though you probably don't need it)  ...chanson~

Welcome to Passions.  A mother's love is so very special and you couldn't have said it any better.  My children now grown, I miss tucking them in bed, but I still kiss their brow.  Nicely done!!
