Wrong Damn Airport! Arriving late as usual, my fifteen minute fatal flaw, chiding myself, parking forty miles from home, pulling my daughter’s hand, come on, come, we’re late, I say the non-international terminal half empty, looking for your smiling face but there are no familiar features, no such flight number on this or any other airline. So what dimension had taken you? Did you accidentally fly To Bermuda to be trapped by the triangle? Where the HELL are you??? Becomes my mantra as no phone can reach you driving forty miles back my daughter patiently waiting to be fed dinner, finally you call, screaming where the HELL are you? © 2000 Corinne Bailey |

Corrine, my heart is pouding my palms sweaty this is the kind of thing I would go. I have made so many mistakes when I first started travelling trains on my own to college, thankfully it is not as bad as airports, and American ones are huge. I know that I would get totally lost...LOL. Wonderful poem, excellently written. Thanks, Sudhir! It is funny now, but last night we were both angry and frustrated! Butterflies, the way it turned out, we're not sure who to blame (my friend flew to the wrong airport, but we never actually discussed WHICH aiport!), so we agreed to both walk away whistling like nuthin happened! Thanks, Alicat - whew, what an exhausting lesson in communication that was! Brian, in the future I may be required to do some travelling for work. As I anxiously paced through the airport looking for my friend, it occurred to me that I might not be the travelling kind! Well, Marge, we weren't laughing last night, but he did admit this morning that when I told him that he had the wrong airport (its the one close to where I used to live) and I reminded him of where I now live, it was like being punched in the gut and he could no longer be mad at me. I could no longer be mad at him since we never discussed WHICH airport, but I ASSumed that he knew where I lived! LOL - what a mess! Corinne |

Ohhhhhhh.....I hope you kissed and made up after you found the right airport!! I can see where this could easily happen......you wrote this so well that I almost heard him yelling!!! Today is a gift.... That is why they call it 'the Present'! |

Corrine shame on you...perhaps an auto pilot would deliver you to the right one..ha..ha.. I have been late on lots of dates and made some women very angry...sometimes I'm late to work...don't tell my boss...but I would never be late getting to the airport...or go to the wrong one...I could not stand the stress...James |
