The Architect Walls of stone by chisel layed From labored hours a city made A people born, a culture dead But in their time a vision bred And on the wall and pyramid A life appears of all they did The genius of the architect A masterpiece to now respect In walls of stone the story’s told Of customs and beliefs they hold A jaguar’s eyes, a serpant’s face The tenets of an ancient race The sun and moon ,the gods they praised The human sacrificial ways All this forever etched in stone Unveiling mysteries once unknown On huge display their firm belief On wall of stone in carved relief The images upon the wall Elicits questions to us all Would we construct a wall of stone And etch our tenets firmly known Would we reveal our faith to all Engraved forever on a wall Are our beliefs as sure and true That we’d display for all to view Our faith in God, our loving trust Etched on a rock from dust to dust If we can truly etch in stone Our love and faith in God alone Then joy does dwell and never parts From faith engraved within our hearts Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 08-01-2000).] |
