Learning to Sing in the Choir I wanted to be like Joni, And sing in the upstairs choir - Such a confident soprano None would sing higher. But I preferred to sing alone, It suited my ego’s desire. I sang in the balcony once, For a friend’s funeral pyre, “Amazing Grace” haunted me So for a time I did retire. Ten years later I went back And felt that old inner fire, finally appreciative oh how that choir did inspire. © 2000 Corinne Bailey [This message has been edited by Corinne (edited 08-16-2000).] |

I have it on good opinion you have an angels voice, and it does inspire. Nice writing, don't ever stop singing. Park |

Each word, each line, each verse has a melody of its own, when it originates from you, Corinne... The choir is only an excuse.. the singer is you... regards, sudhir |

Balladeer and Sudhir, you two guys have made my day, thank you for your sweet comments! My day started out with harsh criticism from a writer in another poetry forum(not a poet)which resulted in a "watch me walking out the door" response from me, got my adrenalin pumping and rattled my nerves. So, to see such sweet words now, makes my heart soar. I know, I'm getting all mushy, so I best shut up now! Corinne |

IF you were asked to sing at least once- I KNOW you have a good solo voice - _ And of course - It is obvious you write poetry beautifully My problem was - for years and years - no courage to sing solo - Always the bass - who added color to the chorus or choir but in those years - spent some time in barbershop singing - and in a quartet - you really learn the value - of other voices - especially when you 'ring' - explore it - it can be most gratifying. |

Corinne, I loved the harmony in this poem and the way you showed you could blend in while still standing apart. Well sung poem. Be well Kethry "It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures; but it is the loss that shapes the image, gathers the flowers weaves the garland."- |

Corinne Your words sing with every line, and what a wonderful accompaniment your lovely picture provides. I must confess, I often revisit your poems just to "hear" the melody of your picture. |
