What Happened to the Angst? Poets of the ‘60’s did, as I recall Summon angst among them, one and all Spoke of deepening anguish Questioned trouble and torment profound Spread among sorrowful moments And to worrisome fear were bound O the thrill of written word Gave me a stimulus reassured But among the cigarette’s haze I could not partake of the eyes glazed Nor could I imagine poetry so sorrowful And left with cup less than full. But here, ah here, I relish each day When a passionate poet comes to play When love transfixes a heart’s beat felt And I perform an internal melt So I care not where is the angst But to passionate poets a kindred spirit’s thanks. truely times have changed for poets, but the angst is still to be found as it should be, for we are the beakons of truth....... |

You are right, Michael G - but at least now, as I perceive some good poems, I at least see semblance of a response to the question...thanks for reading... Karilea When you want to be loved, look within...KRJ |

wonderful work here, sunshine.... such a fine tribute to all the great writing at passions!! __________________________ i'll tell you what happened to the angst, though... some of us still have it, like me, for one, you know ... sometimes i write romantic verse to speak my depths of yearning, but other times the anger and the fire within are burning... sometimes i write of ecstasy and flying to a star on wings of mist toward love that's kissed which takes my heart so far -- but other times, i'm filled with angst and pain and desperation and passionately write those words, pen bleeding the creation. _______________________ thanks for a great read and for inspiring this reply... truly, poetry speaks from the soul and heart of the poet and the human condition..... i am always pleased to hear the words from the depth of a poet's soul, no matter whether romance or angst... and thank you for hearing, too ~ all you can really ever expect out of life is a good apology and some decent poetry ~ |

Doreen, you were very much a part of this piece, I no more posted it and thought of you...but still, you DO answer some of your own questions, albeit you raise more questions as well... thanks much... |
