Top  o'  the  Morning
~~~
My  vision  soars  through  crystal  skies
bourn  high  in  astral  flight
Drifting  free  on  shifting  breeze
banking  left ...
then  banking  right
~
A  reclusive  need  for  solitude
spreads  wings  within  my  head
and  rises  up  through  phobic  mists
atop  the  pall ...
'tis  stress  I  dread
~
A  rising  sun  smiles  upon  my  face
triggers ...
coronary  delight
above  the  clouds  of  Heavens  step
helping ...
rectify  my  plight
~
My  leaden  shroud  is  lifted  high
six  angels  share  its'  weight
" Top  'o  the  morning " I  heard  them  say
as  they  passed
through  Heavens  gate
~
" We'll  have  your  shroud
all  cleaned  and  pressed
we'll  embroider  on  its'  nape
A  morning  dove  shall  bring  it  back
wear  it  well ...
it's  Heavens  cape "
~
Descending  home ...
can't  help  but  see
the  worlds  a  brighter  place
A  pristine  air
pervades  the  skies
as  tension  seems  erased
~
Subconscious  thought
soon  nullified
Fresh  air ...
inflates  the  hollow
I  yawn  and  stretch  as  natures  song
sings  through  my  open  window
~
My  dream  serene  starts  fading  fast
my  thoughts
to  reality  ...  focused
while  reaching  out  to  close  the  pane
a  dove  slipped  through
...  unnoticed  ...
~~~

I started to cut and paste some of my favorite lines Rex ... but I copied the whole poem, so I stopped, and will try to say how wonderful this is anyway!

This is sincerely beautiful! What a lovely way to envision a renewed optomism through a tough day. I think I'll carry this image with me always ... this wonderful cape! Truly, I think this is my favorite of yours so far Rex!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Somehow an Irish lilt seems to permeate this delightful greeting...

thanks be to ye, Sir, for sharing...

I too, of course, loved the Irish flavor to this. I also loved the ending where the Dove slipped in unnoticed. Yep, Heaven can be our reality if we let it! Great writing, Rex!

WONDERFUL WORK...

Rex,
WOW
My leaden shroud is lifted high
six angels share its' weight
"Top 'o the morning" I heard them say
as they passed
through Heavens gate

Very sweet, Rex. I enjoyed your poem's lyrical, inspiring feel.

The title was too adorable not to read... and after only a few words... I was very glad I did.  Fantastic rhythm and flow too.

Dear Rex
With a name like yours I thought you could help me out! I am looking for a Scottish poem for use at a funeral, nothing too morbid.
Thanks
