ditto that. i come up with an idea, which leads to some base characters, then set them on the page and... they do their own thing. every once in a while you have to rein them in, but for the most part, they know far better than i what they should be doing (though occasionaly their grammar sucks) |

I have worked on a novel over the last two years. I found it most interesting that as I created this at the keyboard, it was as if the story were unfolding before me, and I was the reader, not the writer. There were hours that I literally got "lost" in the story line, and when I stopped to take a breath, seven or eight pages had emerged. A shake of the head was usually my only response to my self-question of "where did this come from?" I found the first attempt at a novel both stupefying and wonderful. As I go through the draft now in the editing process, I could not swear "I" wrote the book. However... I was the only one in the room! [or was I?] |

My Muse writes the story in the space of about 2 weeks or so. Then I spend the next forever doing edits and re-writing. But now the animal is in pain... |

I write my story...I've found it likes to take a life of its own, and that's great except sometimes it takes me off the track I'm planning on going. I do alot of thinking before I write. But my thinking is more in terms of theme, so I guess in that sense as long as the story is true to the theme, "it writes itself." |

I think it's possible to feel as if you're the messenger really. As if the story is out there in some mysterious place and chooses when, where and who it wants to tell it through. However, I think that's just a feeling. I think it's up to us, as authors, to retain control of the vision. To order the vision, so it's told in the best way possible. K |

As with anything I write, my novel spun itself out as though inspired from someone else. I am horrible about planning things.. so I couldn't ever lay out a plot line, or a guide to follow. My fingers do the walking...and my heart [I guess this is where it'd come from] does the talking. |
