-emulsion side down-
I'd love to watch you destroy yourself.
You can only brag about survival for so long
Before it becomes hoary, mundane.
Would you like to weep in my ear
Or pull the trigger?

Your life is like a torn slide,
Exploding fragmented, layered light on the screen.
You're too concerned with its shape, its borders,
To forgive us the voyeurism of attention,
Masticated sympathy.
You're too late to forgive yourself.
Much too late to be unique.

What holds your life together?
Glue, masking tape,
Dye transfers,
Our eyes watching you fade.
The frames burn, one by one.
Just another square in a whole jumped reel
Of xerox blueprint serenades.

Ouch.  wow.  i am so confused tonight.  Just
hoping it wasn't ME that pissed you off.  If
"powerful" is now cliche', you'll just have
to tolerate it.  Or not.  What ever you say.
I'm agreeing with you here...

serenity,
Rest assured, it's not you. I'm just going through a mind transition right now, I guess. Very confusing. But glad you read, and, if you didn't enjoy, at least were affected.

I am wiping sweat from my brow...thought I offended you with the "borrow"...(nothing has no edge...)  whatver it is, whatever it
was, I hope all will be better.  AFFECTED ME?
incredible...(applauding very quietly...)

Now, now, serenity, I might only be 23, but I'm more mature than THAT. If I were mad at you, I'd let you know; not veil it in a poem. Like I already said in "alchemy," I'm touched that you think enough of my work to use a title quote. In short: no harm done.

"Would you like to weep in my ear
Or pull the trigger?"

...cool line, Mike. Actually cool poem, through and through. Wish I could do free verse anywhere close to you.

Claire,
Again, thanks for taking the time to read my poems. And your poems are sooo good, why would you need to emulate anyone else?   You rock!

wow powerful is the best way to describe this...if you take the last 2 lines of every verse, you would describe my 2 days of war this week...you would describe me...or my perception of me.....and since I know you aren't mad at me either   it just goes to show your talent...great work
