You get no credit for choosing life for carrying me in your womb. You get no credit for picking my name a name that crumbled my faith too soon. It's not okay that you tried your best when your best left my soul in ruins. You cannot make peace with all that I lost rewinding neglected old tapes of lullabye tunes. You can't love my children in a feeble attempt to return and love me right. You cannot enter the boxing ring expecting to win when it's years too late to join the fight. If only your smile and greeting cards could melt yesterday's honey-dipped frost. I wish the emotion you speak of as love did not open flood gates to all that I've lost. Yet, self indulged screams with a long-ago voice send me back to that familar locked cage. A word from you now, and my heart must confont those demons of silence that denied me my rage. Grant that I may not judge my niegbor until I have walked a mile in his moccasians Native American prayer |

Although this is a well written piece. I can`t help but feel the pain and anger that seem`s to be inside you. I hope that this part of your life that you have shown here can soon be put to rest. |

I forget where I read it--but-- "no matter how fast you dance, you can't get them to clap for you THEN..." Anger is healthy. (At least I like to think so...wish I could do one of those 'evil grin' things...) And this was so much more graceful than punching walls...Great job! |

Wow. I think you are brave to acknowledge your anger - many hide from it. I hope this doesn't sound trite - but I hope you can eventually find forgiveness - I myself know only too well it brings such peace and relief. |

Lots of hurt here. It's good that you can write about it though. Better than taking it out where it don't belong. <*\\\>< There's only two ways you can go... One way you can save your riches, And the other will save your soul. Rich Mullins |

obviously very heartfelt, and written well enough to convey those feelings without becoming tangled in hatred. You must be a very stong person indeed. Good piece |

Thank you all for such concerned and thoughtful responses. I almost wrote at the start of the post a little thing about how old this is (6 years ago). Yes anger is healthy, but when you don't express it and deal with it,it becomes resentment..which only hurts. This poem was written when I was going through all those times. Forgiveness is done for the self, without it we cannot grow and move on. For that reason, I am all for forgiveness. We can move on with the ability to express anger and let it go too! Again I appreciate the comments!!! Grant that I may not judge my niegbor until I have walked a mile in his moccasians Native American prayer |
