You Saw Me

I placed a worn out smile
upon my face
and pretended to be happy.
You saw beyond my mask
and supported me
through my pain.

I dried mascara tears
from reddened eyes
and told you
everything was fine.
You looked past
my clever disguise
and offered a shoulder
upon which to cry.

I painted a badge
of courage
upon my chest...
bravery my farce.
You held my hand
and gave me strength
when I was frightened.

I stood tall
and tried to walk alone;
when I could barely take a step.
You picked me up
and carried me
on the wings of friendship.

You looked beyond
the surface
to see what was inside,
what I had tried to hide;
and in doing so
you helped me
to see myself.

Marilyn was kind enough to inspire this and she has been such a strength to me through a lot...but I also need to dedicate this to some other friends here and oh I hate to start naming names for fear of missing someone but I'll try...this also goes out to (in no particular order) Gloria, Denise, Maree, Rebecca, Shannon, Sharon, Nancy, Michael, Kamla, Chris, Liz, Tara, Munda...thank you all for your support, your compassion and your strength as of late
All of passions and everyone else I may have forgotten...thank you for your continued support and your prayers...you are a remarkable group of people

Ruth, Another beautiful masterpiece from your sparkling mind. I'm honored to have you as a friend also, you've given me much inspiration since I've known you. You are one fine lady with a heart of gold. I pray we are friends for a life time.

For you my friend I am always here. I hope things went well today and I wish I coul dhave been there for you. ((hugs)) my friend. I do know you are here for me as I am for you but cyber hugs don't don't cut it sometimes my friend. I wish I could encircle you with my strength now (what's left of it).

You reminded me of many friends today that have done the same for me. What a nice way to say "thank you." I am sure that you brought joy to many hearts with this one as you have done to mine.
