"Look into the mirror" was suggested to a fellow poet... So began this personal vision of self, as others may seem to know it. I'm far from perfection and in my own inspection I've found a number of items worthy of criticising *** Often times, when asleep, SNORE~I do not! But a hearty snort will send one surely laughing on the spot! *** I'm always rather cranky when I first spy dawn's light, kicking and moaning furiously that I didn't get enough sleep last night. *** I OVER-salt my food, as any true southern girl would and I consider "fatback" a staple in my kitchen's neighborhood. *** My thoughts, they never stop, and too often they intrude when listening is what I should be doing, daydreaming may interlude. *** And to drive me totally nuts, you don't have to go too far... Just leave the a/c running when you turn off the car! *** I desperately love my poetry forum, and this could be a fault too, 'cause I'd rather read poems lately, than watch t.v. with the likes of you. *** OH! We all have our unattractive traits, This we know is fact. But tolerance is a wonderful thing When it's perfection that you lack. We all are different models Of God's original plan And know that in this earthly life He's made a match for each woman and man. For someone You are the 'perfect' mate and God knows who YOU can TOLERATE! |

You packed a lot of introspection in this one, January! I liked it a lot. Not an easy thing to do, I take my hat off to ya! Corinne |

Thanks, Corinne. With all the recent posts about "perfection" and "what we want in a mate"...I thought appropriate to address the question, "What do you see in the mirror". Someone pointed out to a fellow poet in here that "she" perhaps was not so perfect herself. None of us are. I was kinda hoping others in here would fess up to the imperfections that makes EACH OF US so unique, and helps the world go round. Glad you enjoyed the effort. |

This is so true, I was just telling a friend of mine that she needs to take a look at herself, and then she shall find the answer to why she always end up with losers, I told her that she is the magnet and there is a reason why she is attracting these "no good" men. This is so funny, I need to print this out for her. Thanks for the inspiration January Flowers |

LOL - wonderful! Sometimes it can be really hard to be honest with oneself...I guess the important thing for me is to acknowledge the good things about me while I work on some of the not-so-good. Great work! 'Writing sharpens life; life enriches writing' Sylvia Plath |

Mystery~ interesting is your reply to me...because I always believed in the "opposites attract" theory. Glad you liked my wording in this one. Severn~ that's what I like to see, laughing at imperfection! HAHAHA! Flattered that you enjoyed. |

Somebody once told me, "What you tolerate controls you!" I left my wife the next day...LOL Still, perfection is not a quality I'd ever seek in any individual nor would want sought in me. I don't snore - but I sure do love that salt, though. Cute poem with a strong message. michael |

No one is perfect.....it's only a matter of finding someone who's "perfect" for us |
