The paint is worn from the treads on the stairs where he walked with his pipe filling the air with smoke like sweet wood and vanilla On the hall coat rack hangs his favorite flannel shirt with holes int the elbows from leaning on the deck railing while watching for deer His leather chair with faded, well used arms stands over in the corner used only by his faithfull dog who seems to still be waiting |

James.... I love this... you have painted a picture with words so vividly. I can see him. ... I can almost smell the smoke from his pipe... I think the title could use some editing, though, because it doesn't capture the essence of the piece. Maybe call it, "Pipe Smoke" or... "Vanilla"... or... "Leather Dog"... nah... Leather Dog, that sucks... LOL Nice work, james! dp |

This is so touching. It reminded me that when my Mom passed away our dog searched around for her for quite a long time....so sad.... Denise |

Wow, for some reason these images reminded me a lot of Hemingway. Translation: Wow! Mike p.s. The title's fine. |
