BEAUTY DEFIED Tell me you love me, even if it's a lie. Kiss me just once, before you kiss me good-bye. Let your eyes peel the layers of my soul. Touch me once more before emptiness takes toll. Mi-Lady, my love, by chance or by fate, By today's goodbye, our tomorrow must wait. The time that we've shared, a sail on the sea, Fading into the sun of cherished memory. A walk on the deck during hurricane winds. A dance with temptation where Darkness descends. If angel by day or demon by night, A life, (without you), stands to lose all light. From vaunted Lord to lowly clown. A jester bearing his tarnished crown. I watch time with you disappear, Bleeding away slowly in silent fear. Set still in the window, with the stem broken, Cries the gift of my love on whispers unspoken. A flower that died before it came to bloom, A beauty defied by its death in the womb. A treasure deeply sought, lost to the eye. By a glossless stare, by a breathless sigh. A scream from eternity perched on the sill, If it don't blossom tonight, surely it never will. So won't you tell me you love me, even if it's a lie? Kiss me just once today, for tomorrow I die. Michael Anderson It's the little things you take for granted, That'll mean the most to you when they're gone. |

Wow....Michael, I think this is perhaps one of the best pieces I've read from you yet. Very full of emotions, very powerful. It speaks clearly to the heart. |

How powerfully emotional! I swear my heart did a flip flop from the deepness. Did Sharon say "AWESOME"? I second that! |

Wow, what else is there to day but WOW. The emotion just oozes off this piece. Yet another powerful poem today to make my skin crawl. Might I borrow some of that extra talent you have stored away? I am not a poet, I am merely one who speaks in emotion |

He's not a talented poet... he's just faking it!!! Ah Michael m'boy... you came close to creating moisture in these tired blue eyes. A tale so full o' wonderous regale...Sigh. Do you know how to do anything not good? |

Just want to say thank you to everyone. It sure is good to be back - I have missed you all dearly. Nan, we noticed a little when we could no longer stand up - but we didn't mind much. Devina, I wish I never had to leave, truly. WhtDove, Don't cry, please... Ruth, that's a HUGE compliment - TY from the depths of my heart. Sally, I think I missed that flip flop - care to show me again?...LOL Mistikman, I'm so glad you enjoyed this piece. You are more then welcome to my talent if you care to take the emotion that lies behind it as well. Never say I didn't warn you though. Well, Chris - unfortunately I have done many things in the "not good" department of late. Now then, your ol' blue eyes might not seem so tired if you slept once in awhile - I thought we discussed that before... A heartfelt thanks and big HUGS to eveyone else. Michael |

You know, I have the feeling that I should have something profound to say about this beautifully wistful piece of poetry, but all I can seem to do is ... Welcome back, Michael -- and there will be another tomorrow. --Kess Full fathom five thy father lies, Of his bones are coral made, Those are pearls that were his eyes; Nothing of him that doth fade But doth suffer a sea-change Into something rich and strange... --William Shakespeare, from The Tempest |
