The gray plump granny smoothes her hair
And her pale pink cotton gown
And drifts away - to another day
....To another time and town.

How many years now has it been
How many tears ago
When her eyes fell first upon that lad
....Who had set her heart aglow?

She dabs the teardrops falling fast
And lays her glasses down
And travels there - to those days so fair
....In another time and town.

She now beholds that vision clear
A brilliant budding spring
With a promise of 'forevermore'
....And a glist'ning golden ring.

It's countless tears now since he's gone
Yet not a sun goes down
But she's proudly dancing with him there
....In her satin wedding gown.

Her lonely days...at last...are done
True...she leaves this land of care
And she runs to him and takes the hand
....Of her lad so debonair.

Now at last they are together
True...all trouble's now laid down
And now they're dancing there quite grandly
....In that grand 'forever town'.

Yes, together now...forever
True...they're walking hand in hand
And 'midst the angels they're still dancing
....In that grand 'forever land'.

Denise, I'm so glad I saw this! It's a beautiful poem, so sweet in sentiment and your rhyme and meter give it such a "feeling" of fluidity...just like their dance, one might imagine. So nice...
