In the garden of my soul,
...a rose of varied color,
At the base the petals white,
...pure as my love for her.

Yellow petals all about,
...warm sunshine that is spread,
Passions burn from love's desire,
...Flames forth from petals red.

And in the center of my rose,
...a single petal blue,
As radiant as the sky above,
...deep as my love for you.

Oh I did enjoy the likening of your love for her to the composition of a rose and its petals! Very nice! And in the garden of your soul...I love this analogy. I wrote something called "The Garden" a few months ago, in which the poems speaks of the garden of the heart. (...great minds think alike??)   Wonderful piece, Mike.

Now for me some words come easy...
But I know that they don't mean that much
Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch.
You never knew what I loved in you--
I don't know what you loved in me...
Maybe the picture of somebody you were hoping I might be...
How long have I been sleeping-
How long have I been drifting alone through the night...
How long have I've dreaming I could make it right...
If I closed my eyes and tried with all my might
To be the one you need...

There's nothing more that can be added to the commentary above. But instead of lapsing into the easy go-to maneuver of saying "Wow, I really liked it!" in as many different ways possible, I will say very eloquently written piece. And yes, I really liked it.

Geeze, wish I were so lucky.  I love "flowers".  I wish I had enough money to have fresh flowers in every room every day.  Very classy poem.

(Love that blue rose above)

Hi Mike,

Roses are my favorite flower, I have about a hundred and seventy rose bushes in my yard, and there will probly be more by summer. They say a woman can never have enough flowers in her life. And so I gess you can see that I loved your poem very much, thank you.
