The Proposal A soft breeze gently rustles the golden leaves that have fallen scattered about, below the twisted grey branches of the tree from which we used to swing. Our names, carved by the hand of this tenderhearted young boy, still echo love, of youth and of each other. I now take your hand in mine, and beneath the shadow of this tree, a testament and reminder of our love, I ask that we never allow it to fade into the greyness of those limbs or to dry and crumble like the leaves that have fallen to the ground. But that we allow it to grow ever upward, and to be strong, as the trunk of the great tree itself that bears the evidence of this great love, which beneath it's arms began. Christopher M. Grimm |

Chris, this is lovely and full of devotion. I enjoyed the image and idea of the great tree promoting, confirming and protecting your love's commitment. Wonderful! Claire |

Thank you very much Serenity and Meadowmuse. This particular piece was written not long after proposing to my wife. It really means alot to me and is probably one of my favorites for reading and displaying. I appreciate the comments deeply and hope to be able to bring to each of you a deeper understanding of myself and my writing through this and other poetry to be posted. Thank You Chris |

Chris this makes me think forward into time where the tree you speak of has grown but the initials are still there as this love you speak of is. lasting many year through it's pure devotion Great read. Rich |

Thanks spiked. it's nice to come on-line and share my writing with people who can read and understand what I am trying to say. So much great poetry (not to say that mine is) is lost today because so few try to look deep into themselves and find what the words mean to them instead of trying to figure out what they meant to the author. Thank You Chris |

How did you say A piece is only poerty if feelings are awaken within the readers heart Well yes I say you's is truly poetry And with such charm and softspoken art Beautiful The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools. |

CM~ How likened to the mighty oak is love. This is beautifully grown. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
