` ` ` ` `
` ` ` ` `Such a
vast eternal journey
` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` `over lichened rocks that slip
` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` `where slimy algae grows.
` `
In paths of flooding mountains,
` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` leaping icy waters’ trip
` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` `from sky-lined alpine snows;
` ` `
glide ‘cross rocky water paths,
` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` down sloping sided tossing;
` `
` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` wild, chaotic, turbulent
` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` `for all the vivid seasons.
` ` `
It seems too formidable e’en to
` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` attempt a stalwart crossing,
` `
` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` `from aching winters spent;
` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` `in these nights of darkest reasons.
` ` `

` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` `  Yet the empire of tears remains a cold
` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` `  and solitary land. Step by faltering step
` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` `ventures my slow and careful stand.
                        Moving fearfully but endlessly,
                          from stone to tipping stone;
                             for the perilous flight to
                                joy is just this one
                                  long trek alone.

Rosemary, it really is perfect. Your presentation and phrasing gives the reader the true sense of stepping tentatively along your path of stones. Life is, indeed, a journey, is it not? A wonderful gifting here, and I thank you!

you just reminded me that all of those steps that we are taking ever so softly and carefully, are much easier when we have the Lord holding our hand...

thank you.

i loved this.

You know you wouldn't be sliping if the kids did their jobs right and didn't leave so much slippery water on the floor. I went to the bathroom this other morning around four, 'bout broke my neck sliding on wet soapy floor, almost forgot what I was doing there or going for. Has that ever happened to you..?

Honey'

Your going to have to get "Guru Margie" to help ya with those steppin' stones. I'm sure she has a couple extra lying around the shoreline she can spare.

Rosemary~
You tiptoe the stones deftly ...
but never alone, my friend.

LOL @ Lucky !

Okay ... here goes !

Stones of memory
Laid out on the path of tears
Come, let's step gently

Stones for stepping on
Or for stepping over ... yet
Throw a stone at HIM !

Rosemary ... me thinks that perhaps
you deserve a medal !
Love you two.

This is wondeful! The stepping stones of life, sometimes slippery. Always have someone by our side, to help lift us when we fall. I enjoyed this much!

Incredibly beautiful work here.  You speak with such wisdom.

I know how it goes, taking one step at a time, trying to move to a better place in life without all the pain.  Precarious rocks, aren't they?  Nice poem.
