THE WALK

Who walks this land ‘neath cherished beam
Of moonlight drawn the soul?
To hold the hand of perished dream
Upon this murky knoll.
To live by shred of distant hope,
Yet lost the common eye.
By word unsaid sightlessly scope
The morrow's tearless cry.

When home is right but you turn left
To face the desert sun.
Forsake the fight ever bereft
Of what can't be undone.
What is this call you hear, alone,
That guides you further on?
All judgement fallen from the throne
Of life become a pawn.

With stars yet so far out of reach
Do you just close your eyes?
Chariot low, can nothing breech
This yearning of the skies?
Do you fly now above us all,
Or has the passion bled?
By the gravity of this pall
To which we lay our dead?

With eyes on fire, startling in close,
What warmth remains tonight?
By endless pyre, by wilting rose
Must we carry your plight?
Question the weakness or the strength
Of wounds you would not bear?
Or dare to speak ever at length
Of what we could not share...

Light a candle?  Drink another,
In name of gasping breath?
Lift the handle for my brother
Who still can't grasp this death?
Am I to say to your own son
That life was just so tough...
We couldn't pay comparison
Love ‘er to be enough?

I dare not try to understand
This principality...
Life taken by such willing hand
Reigns the nightmare to me.
By vision frayed what eyes agleam,
Yet walk this murky knoll?
All hope displayed in dare or deem,
That God may rest this soul...

Michael Anderson

For all behind was dark and drear,
And all before was night and fear.
How many hours of night or day
In those suspended pangs I lay,
I could not tell; I scarcely knew
If this were human breath I drew.

Lord Byron

damn M, this is SO amazing...SO graceful to read in its dark cryptic beauty...the rhyme is of perfection...
reading this is equal to walking thru your soul. exceptional, truly
take care, jm< !signature-->

The stars shine so bright, now's the time
I close my eyes - soft wind touch my face,
Cool sand upon the place where I once kissed you
And held you close.
Now I will reach for the stars...
Because Oh my love, that's where you are...
Though the storms of black night rage on
I still see your face
I still feel your lips on mine
And though my heart feels all alone without you
I still hear you sing to me
I still hear your voice on the sea...

It's something that can never be fully understood by the ones left behind. Such a tragedy. You have expressed your heartache well, Michael.

God shall rest his soul,
For your heart wills it so-

Do not forsake, nor debate-
The wound's not yours to cleanse,
Just cherish past, now create-
Another soul passed to Fate...

Keep your spirits high darlin, and know that my hand silently holds yours right now...wish it could be more...

*lovin hugs*

There is nothing that can be said, Sweet.  Only, hold your head high and be strong...let those that love you be your strength.

I am here

Panther's Chrysalis, this was an intricate walk indeed.  Thanks for reading.

Janet, wasn't exactly my soul I was walking through here. but nonetheless, I'm glad you enjoyed.

Denise, you speak wise words.  There is much her I will never understand, I fear.

devina, I feel your hand on mine right now, love.     I know you are with me in every way possible.  I could ask nothing more.

Amy, one heck of a comlliment there, sincerest thanks to you.

Jeffrey, Good to meet you last night and this morning.  Glad you enjoyed.

Satiate, I am, I have, and I will     I know you are here for me always... thank for letting me lean a little.

Thank you each and all for your kind replies.

I felt a peace from the verses, and I believe this is a poem that is truly
time honored. It is a treasure.

You know I usually see a poem that is that long and I justy skip to the next one.  I guess I have a short attention span.  but this one captured my thoughts right to the end.

Very nice.

but if there's nothing there to make things change,
if it's the same to you I'll just hang."

sorry M, gotta protest that reply(smile)
EVERYONE of your poems is a walk thru your soul and heart and mind and ...
well, you get my drift
that IS your GIFT...
poetic mirrors of the soul...you do write!
take care, jm

 ...every moment of every day...
your still with me in every way.
every poem and song...
every rhyme and verse...
your still here...like a beautiful curse.

This is what I miss about this place when I am not around.

You have never disappointed me, Michael.  Your verse is unfailingly epic.

--Kess

Full fathom five thy father lies,
Of his bones are coral made,
Those are pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange...
