When Evening Shadows Fall ~*Marge Tindal*~ When shadows of the night caress the sun goodbye then and only then will I let down and cry For in the light of day I see your memory clear but in the solitude of night I've no one to hold me near No one to whisper night-nothings in my ear telling me that they love me without your precious self here Not one moment of deep sleep shall close lids of sorrows eye washed away with loves tear at our very last goodbye Just a moment of joy clings to my longing heart in the bright light of the day but in evening it quickly departs That you loved me in the meadow awash with sunlight that day is enough for me to retreat to the coming light of day When the morning breaks I shall hope again that I've got what it takes to face the evening shadows from within ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Nice poem, Marge... ! Isn't it amazing, how we can be so brave to face the day- and nighttime falls, and we feel the emptiness even more!? |

Marge~ This was soo sad, I could see the heartbreak in it and feel the depth of the despair once the sun went down and night appeared. Beautiful piece. Tracie~ Keep all the windows of your mind open Anne Rooks |

Marge, I have never heard any piece that came closer to the feeling of facing the night alone. Very well done. Thank you for sharing. Jeffrey |

Marge, last year my uncle died. I went to Arizona for the funeral. The had been married in 1942. My aunt said time and time again that the days are okay, she keeps busy with her friends. But at night, the quiet, the emptiness is inescapable. The spot on the bed where he laid next to her all those years, vacant and cold. Made me think long and hard about love like that. So many rewards, but so much loss. Lovely poem. Thanks for sharing this with us. Corinne |

LoveBug~ Sweetie, I'm pleased that it touched you. Corinne~ Yes, the loss is so hard when it's remembered in the still of the night. Thank you for sharing that story with me. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
