The Final Goodbye
By: Amy M. Kennedy

The tears run down my face,
as I close my eyes and sigh
I sit here with my heartache,
sit wondering why
Then a thought of you pops into my mind,
and it all comes rushing back to me
The memories, of when you betrayed me,
it shattered my heart…can’t you see?

You took the most precious thing I had to offer
and you threw it away
Laughed at me,
as if love was some game to play
Pulling my life back together,
has been a uphill fight
Some days I felt like giving up,
wanting to give into the darkness of night

Now you say you love me
and ask me to love you once again
However I can't...you betrayed my trust,
no longer my friend
The tears run down my face,
as I close my eyes and sigh
I now know that I am strong enough,
to tell you one last final goodbye.

Lovely writing Amy..I know how easy it is to say goodbye with the words but it is so hard to say goodbye in your heart..the feelings and the memories keep haunting me.   James

You are a strong person, Amy. It sounds like this guy got what he deserved...the right one's out there somewhere...good luck!

Amy*
This is fantastic!!! And that kind of strength is awesome...it takes more strength to say goodbye than to do almost anything else in a relationship...And trust is the most painful thing to loose, you did so great in expressing all of that and more.

amy-girl, i dont even have to tell you how much this poem says about you and your strength and character. I know how hard finding this strength and keeping it can be.
I also know, as you do, how hard it is to get the trust back. I wanted to say something to you in reference to your reply on my poem tonite. I know and understand what you were saying about "being the sunshine girl"...I know by things we have learned and shared here in our poetry, that you too have those shadows...and as you say, our past follows us. My "nicknaming" you sunshine is because you are always so upbeat and generous and bring us smiles...but I know you have had much to overcome...all the more reason for me to smile when thinking of you...many of us dont overcome it and do it with such grace. thats what I mean by sunshine.
take care sweets...stay stong.
love ya, jm

she said I dont know if I've ever been good enough,
and I'm a little bit rusty, and I feel like my head is caving in.
...and I dont know if I've ever been really loved by a hand thats touched me...
and I feel like somethings gonna give...
and I'm a little bit angry.

Amy, I think you touched us all by your poem.  Sometimes its out the sorrow we experience that we are able to comfort others.  Its a rare heart that has never felt the pain of shattered love.   Yet there is one whose been my Master for forty years and His love never fails.

There's no harder place to be than being asked to love again where trust has been broken.     My empathies.  Great poem, though.
