My own personal prison; bars to hold in the pain Tears fall from my eyes like death's black rain They just never seem to come to an end Clinging onto the world without a single friend And yet I am here by my own power Never giving myself a chance to flower To me; dependency is so very frightening Yet it is always there and threatening And so I cry for you; and I cry for me I cry for all the hurt that you can not see You must not know all the pain I feel Or know that these smiles, just aren't real The thought of someone stealing my soul And once again leaving that empty hole Is an ever present reminder of the past Every good thing just doesn't seem to last I may never be the person that I am inside That is the reason why I must hide Build up a wall so that no one comes near For behind that wall grows a garden of pain and fear Before the time comes when it is you that I love I know that I must first be free of All the hurt and pain from deep within I must learn to love myself for my life to begin... ~Susie~ |

Very painful. Best of luck to you, Susie. Hope that soon you can break through the prison bars to find love. Elizabeth "He have his goodness now. God forbid I take it from him!" -The Crucible |

Hi Angel, I totally understand this brick wall thing, I have even learned how to put in a elevator of sorts, because I think every thing is OK and then bam, but in my garden of pain I planted black rose all over because to me there beauty goes both ways, I hope you are set free soon. Thank you, Cerenity |

Your last line says it all...we must learn to love ourselves before we are truly capable of loving another. |

Sometimes the personal prison of our own creation is harder to escape. But you will do it! I'm sure... |

That last line does say it all... Marge: Hey, I know, I've been on a sort of vacation (a nice way to say a really bad case of writer's block ) But then again, with all the great poetry here, I was real busy reading. Thanks Poet deVine: Thanks for reading and having faith ~Susie~ |

So well written...I felt the same way for many years...it took a long time for me to realize my worth...and with that came freedom..you will find it to. |
