As hush of dawn rests like benediction,
Flushed sky brightens, in rainbowed eruption,
Springs forth new day, springs forth sparkling fountain
Of faeries rising mist, beneath high mountain,
Cascading over man and beast; imbues,
God's palette, pastelled rose and crimson hues,
Each hill and verdant valley soon submissed,
Before dawn's spreading light, as by Helios kissed,
Crest to crest, retreating forces of the night,
Bow before dawn's majesty, coming of the light.

Your imagery is exceptional! Each poem you write is better than the one before it... I applaud your talent! Keep them coming!

"Crest to crest retreating forces of the night". How beautiful. We always think of the daylight coming, but I never thought of night retreating. This is splendid!
Very fine poetry

What imagery!  This is indeed very lovely.

This is a beautifull portrayel of nature,
coming of the light.... that is what I feel with this poem. Excellent.

Mike~
As I sit watching the 'night retreating'
I am awed by the beauty of your poem.

Thank you all so much.  Is a beautiful day here... sun shining... birds chirping... unfortunately, had to go to work...
but what the hey...  I can go home after work and mow the lawn...  *smile*

I like it, Mike - I like it lots... LOL... We could play "Dawn Sonnet" tag.. ya think? It wouldn't take much to make a sonnet of this...

There is a treasure in your poetry, and I am so glad you're sharing. I still don't know how you do it...
