The Enemy These changes will fall into place, If they are destined to be, But I also am acutely aware, That fear is the enemy. These labors, this sheer leap of faith, To ensure future survival, This may not make sense to you, But fear is my only rival. The one that said she was my friend, Thinks I’ve surely lost my mind, She’s made it very clear, Her daughter can’t play with mine. That I would give all “this” up Is beyond her comprehension, She’s afraid I might be right, which just adds to the tension. The children don’t understand They just want to play together, Sometimes grownups are idiots, You think they would know better. Amidst all this, add to this mix The most unexpected of gifts, The prospect of you in my life, Oh, now the level of fear shifts. Life is a teacher of lessons, For me it’s patience and strength, To wait for life to come to me, And keep fear at arm’s length. What better time to trash fear, this factor keeps us off track, Just let everything come what may, and just never, ever look back. © 2000 CM Bailey |

Some 'friends' really aren't. Very sad. You have to be true to your own heart. Wonderful poem, Corinne! Denise |

Fear can be a tireless adversary because in most cases its us that give the fear its power. Why people fear change is kind of strange. We are programmed daily to accept it as normal in every part of life. Its amazing we ever even live any life with regularity. One thing for sure change is growth and can be an adventure. Great poem Corinne..... Parker |

Ah, Corinne. You cover it all in this one. Wonderful! The "never, ever look back" calls to mind the image of willingly turning a fall into a high speed dive, which is so much easier to do once you have found your poet core. Thank you. Rick |
