I stole a silhouette or two Traced the lonely edges in shades of grey And shamed myself when through The forms, fearful and fey Holding steady in wanton sway Timeless hearts on verge of dust Onto slivers of shapeless thought And broken pieces of trust The web on which I am caught Fighting the vain fight once had fought I captured those silhouettes at last By design, or by some other art And guilt for the loss of the past In which I played no small part Finally a plan I could not thwart Each line blends into the next The fading edges in frozen fire And lost in sublime context But each time willfully inspire Another with its shadow as sire I missed a silhouette or two Slipping softly from steadfast clutch And fading from grey to blue Ever just beyond a fleeting touch Yet senseless as sorrow and such To transcend this lessened degree Valiant, but soon misplaced And replaced, by a newer version of me One with the same outwardly open face For someone else in shades of grey to trace I returned those silhouettes I stole Unto misplaced memories And from this bottomless hole Allowed them to fly forever free Upon wings of valkyries (I guess this is an open forum, and not just for one style of poem, right? Well here is a new one) |

Change 'misplaced' to 'mastered' in the last stanza. |
