What About the Children? Children; Hurting Fearful and Afraid. What now, Who to turn to, Where to go. So many questions In a little child's mind. Wanted; Love Affection Comfort Seeing; Mess Violence and tears, Only because Mom's too young. |

A common tragedy these days. Nice expression! A life isn't significant except for its impact on other lives. |

Lisa...I work in obstetrics and the sadness of this poem is that it is oh so true...I've helped deliver girls as young as 13 who should be playing with dolls and crying to mom instead of hearing someone cry and playing mom. It's a sad state of affairs and sex education in the schools just isn't making enough of an impact. I was told a few years ago by a HS student (she was 16 at the time she had her baby) that it was "the in thing to be pregnat in HS" and that "the other kids looked up to her". Speaks sadly for society today I'm afraid where children are praised for having children. Sorry....*climbs down off her soap box* There are only two ages of people...living and dead and you all look about the right age to me :) |

Sadly I can relate to this. I was 15 when I had my eldest son and I can attest to it not being the right thing to do. However I was blessed with a great foster grandmother who spent an enormous amount of effort making me a decent mother at such a young age. Not everyone has such blessings in their lives. Thank you everyone for your responses. This is an issue that is constantly on my mind. As a child care provider I find it difficult to assume that young children having children can provide a comforting and warm environment for a child. The young child has a long time before they get to be a child again! |

Lisa~ Sad commentary on life. It's a shame that Mother Nature makes the ground so fertile ... before these children are old enough to tend the harvest. Sex education is falling between the cracks. 'Throw-Away' babies are unfortunately the result. I've recently joined a group that meets with teens from 12-18 on this very subject. It is a volunteer program and started by a group of caring women. The program is open to boys and girls and is well-attended. The kids come and go in the group and we like to think we're making a difference. Everyone might like to look into starting such a group in your community. ![]() Glad you shed a little light on this. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
