To be a Cat If in the afterlife I can come back I would love to be a cat To sleep and eat the day away Waking up only to play Perfecting how to catch a rat A piece of yarn I will attack On a lap I’d sit and purr Making sure I shed my fur Whether it be a tabby cat Or purebred Siamese It is my head I want you to pat But don’t pull my tail please Just give my something good to eat And a warm place to sleep A little catnip once in a while I’ll be nothing like a crocodile A little cuddle, a little rub Just don’t put me in a tub To lounge all day, waiting for you to come home If you let me out I promise not to roam I’ll be back in the morning For my food and my nap That I will take while on your lap Maureen |
