Footprints

The road to anywhere
is paved
with footprints resembling
mine.
Yesterday I thought the future
just fine
today it seems everything's
caved.

Anywhere is everywhere
paved
with footprints that are
mine.
Yesterday I accepted
as fine
today I glanced and my memory
caved.

Every step of my life
is paved
two sets of footprints including
mine.
Yesterday I was tired and carried
fine
today I watched as he became
caved.

Sometimes it's easy to lose sight of the good memories when things seem to be falling down around us. It's good to have someone to carry us when we are down and vice versa. Great poem, Gloria.

Footprints, had those second pair been Jesus, I don't think they would have caved.
I hope rainbows shine across your day tomorrow!

Gloria, this is a remarkable piece of work. There is a great deal said in between it's line. You should be proud of this one

Gloria,

I am in debt to you for posting this.  I really had to consider carefully how you were saying what you wrote.  I am not sure I fully comprehend.  I may let is sit a while and then read again. I do know enough to know tht I like it....well done.

I thank you all for reading and replying to this poem. I wrote this and 2 others last night as I was trying to get tired and go to sleep, I kind of just went with the words that were poping out and this was created. I was not depressed at that moment, but I may have been seeing things from an overall point of view. The last stanza is God with me and carrying me, and seeing him caved is his burial on Good Friday. I hope this explains it a bit better for those who were wondering, and maybe there is more between the lines then I even know myself.

Gloria,
I have always loved the footprints poem.  You have recaptured it beautifully here.  Great job!!  A pleasure to read.
