GLITTER AND DUST < !signature-->As perfection lies its own fault, Who then shall guard the Welkin vault? What treasure awaits gleaming eyes? What pleasure there baits dreaming sighs? What measure of Fate's scheming lies Now brings us to our knees? For Love must die that Hope may live, But Love must live that one forgive. And so the vicious circle springs To rides pernicious demon wings On superstitious golden rings That chain us like disease. For Time's mystical enigma Flutters in heart with Hope's stigma... To tip the tide, to break the will, To rip the pride, to shake the ill, To slip, to slide, to wake the still That none escape her call. For few see the glitter in dust. Yet fewer still own eyes of trust, Nor should forfend fascination, Nor would extend explanation, Nor could suspend animation, To keep them from the fall. That Love is dead, Hope may yet live forever! Michael Anderson For all behind was dark and drear, And all before was night and fear. How many hours of night or day In those suspended pangs I lay, I could not tell; I scarcely knew If this were human breath I drew. Needless to say, I loved the entire thing... we still walk the same path my friend... ironically enough, we wander the same forks when the road changes as well. The third stanza kicks some serious booty here. I loved the internal rhyme scheme which led to a quickened pace that matched my feelings through the read! Kickin ass my friend! |

Nan, without Hope - we are dead already!!! Cerenity, hope is very powerful...I am glad you see it evident in my work. devina, yeah, this one can get a little ticklish if one chooses to let it. ![]() Butterflies_dont_cry, Truth in emotion is the very essance of poetry. You're right, nothing could be more beautiful. serenity, ROFL, glad you liked even if it flew kind of high for you. ![]() Rainbow Girl, Ah, those eyes are an asset, indeed - but I'd bet they seem to collect a lot of dust at times... don't they? Chris - We are definately cut from the same mold me thinks. I don't know where this road we're on is taking us but I walk it proud knowing you are there with me. Thank you all for your kind replies.
