I sit here in the dim light by the cold fire a quiet, peaceful, deathly silence the night is empty and quiet This is how I see life without you could I bear it? no one there! yet you are here and still I sit here alone! by the cold fire You are here but I live without you we are together but still so far apart so go to him now we know it must be But go in the knowledge that I love you as I always have, and always will I pray one day I can be the friend you want of me do not ask this of me now you are too near and the pain too great....... |

This poem touches my heart EagleOne, I feel the pain of letting go and the pain of having no choice in the decision. You conveyed all of your feeling beautifully. Thank you for sharing your gift (and yes it is a gift !) and allowing all to read. |

EagleOne, When I read your topic, I asked myself, "How can a fire be cold?" With this poem, you just described it beautifully, yet painfully. I've been there, felt the same empty feeling... but somehow, everything turns out alright in the end... Wonderfully written! May |

Oh, such a nice picture of pain. could be a pair cheating, could just be a friend of someone abused(may be a stretch) or just a friend who longs for anothers woman but must be just the good friend. May be I am flat wrong. But I know that I am right in knowing that you have a good way with words and paint a good picture with them. Oh you will write me more! |

It's so hard to let go when you feel (or know) that the one you love is leaving to be with someone else... perhaps it will work out in the end or perhaps you will simply be just good friends. It's difficult either way but it always seems to work best when there is time spent apart with oneself before attempting to mend the wounds that lie between the 2 of you. Good luck, Eagle.
