Wilst thou sneak in on noiseless feet,
To steal away my mortal soul?
On trumpet's blare, in life's defeat,
Herald triumph; mine death extol?

Shall mourner's weep to silent dirge,
Or hymns of praise to Gods on high?
In joyous prayer mine sins to purge,
Or empty pews, no mournful cry?

Wilst I in grandeur in tomb lie,
Or in wood coffin , pauper's grave?
What eulogy spoke whence I die,
When darkness doth mine soul enslave?

In dark or lightness doth take all,
I wait in silence for Death's call.

Though death may take
you from this place
your poetry
will not abate
and into time
you'll be replete
death takes your breath
not words defeat

Mike, this is too nice a day for such a sad poem, even though it was very well done and I read it twice..errr three times.

Yes... too depressing on a day like this, but try and move my moods around a little to not get in a rut.

I dont know about you guys but when I read a sinister and darkness inspiring poem such as this, it leaves me with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. Maybe i'm just sadistic, but i know a good poem when i see one. thumbs up on this one, mike
