Apple-mint sprigs, tiny leaves
unfold to sun in ancient prayer--
    (supplication...)
Ever strives to meet perfection...
    (daily dedication...)

Lemon tree in bloom this year.
     How perfectly ironic.
Blossoms fall--lemon drops--
     Heady scent--seductive tonic--
a certain perfect disarray...
think i'll let it stay that way...
(Some things should be
     just what they are.)

Broad-leaf fern, pine-apple sage,
rose-in-bud, "Society's Page,"
(she used to be all the rage.)
spears of iris by the pond
and just the slightest curve of palm
behind the waterfall--
White ginger standing tall...
    and pots of basil
    hunger for planting
bringing out an ache in me--
ever wistful--ever wanting--
a shovel full of upturned earth
    droplets of rain, quenching thirst.
"Gentle hands are needed here,"
said the breeze into my ear.

"Ssshh..."  It whispered me aware.

Oooh, what a mystifying poem...lovely ending.

All this talk of pineapple and such made me hungry though - guess I oughta go eat some breakfast, huh?

Grreat poem!

Serenity - this is just excellent...it is so tight (my word for a poem that flows like water), well done, well done!

Lemon tree in bloom this year.
     How perfectly ironic.
Blossoms fall--lemon drops--
     Heady scent--seductive tonic--
a certain perfect disarray...

love it!

Severn- thank you so much for adding to my
already abundant joy with your reply.

Denise- I owe you such a debt of gratitude--
your support gave me the confidence
to keep posting  (I know it sounds
ludicrous, but i am actually quite
        shy...)

Thanks again to all, this one was a joy to
share...Now GO PLANT SOMETHING! ( but let's
keep an eye on Marge and Seymour...)

Serenity, I liked this work, but kept wondering to myself what season it was. It seemed kind of summery with lemon blossoms dropping and their "heady scent" yet it seemed to also hint of spring with the "spears of iris" by the pond. Forgive me for being thick, but could you clarify this for me? oh, and i still liked it
best regards,
bboog

Christopher, me berry happy to hear from you!
             Thanks...

bb----I live in New Orleans, sub-tropics here, we do not actually have winter, we have a series of "cool fronts".  So yes, not
only is it possible, it is happening, and to
my joy, right in front me very eyes.  (Note
I've said nothing about my heat-loving Hibiscus, daisies, and all-time favorite, my
beloved zinnias...)

The poem is exquisitely refreshing in it's style. What an excellent manner of construction and combination of imagery. I love it
