We can't feel any kind of kinship now not like we used to because something has shifted and so violently. We're growing up but so confusedly because we want to hang on to our past to our childhood because in contrast to now it was all so beautiful. There is so much in our heads but nothing concrete or solid and therefore unsortable Nothing seems complete or straightforward to us it's all part of the tangled mess laughingly passing for our lives. We are too cowardly to face our problems We just hide behind these useless words. I am not a preacher, I just speak the world as I see it. |

***Cabes, I long for the innocence of childhood...but, although it hurts, we have to accept what is thrown at us. I'm sorry you're in pain. I see so much of me in you and yet I still can't seem to help you. I'm sorry. I am not a preacher, I just speak the world as I see it. |

I remember this feeling - sometimes I still have it...childhood is never appreciated until it is gone - though it can be rough for many, it is still precious I suppose. Hugs. 'Writing sharpens life; life enriches writing' Sylvia Plath |

***Severn, My childhood is so precious to me. It may not have been idyllic, but just about anything could beat the way I felt when I wrote this poem. The hugs are much appreciated. I am not a preacher, I just speak the world as I see it. |

How did I miss this? I'm familiar with the feeling. I suppose in some way, we could blame the society that we live in, but what good would that do? I think that everyone should have those precious, child-like moments. I'm attempting to make my childhood last as long as I can, I don't suppose it'll make any difference. Yet again, great poem. For some reason, I always seem to identify with your wotk. The tragedy of it is that nobody sees the look of desperation on my face. Thousands and thousands of us, and we're passing one another without a look of recognition. |

Beautifully said mete...You expressed your feelings well..I hope by now you realize that this was just one of the "passages" of time we all must go through as we pass from the security of childhood to an uncertain world. We profess to ourselves that we are grown up & at the same time fear & feel vunerable nona |

I would love to be able to view life through the eyes of a child once more. No expectations, no fears, and reality what we make it There are only two ages of people...living and dead and you all look about the right age to me :) |

Hi there First thanks for posting a comment about my poem..as a newbie here it was much appreciated..reading the fantastic poems here made me feel a little overwhelmed..but your comments have encouraged me.. Second I have read this and your poem about "I scare myself" and i can totally relate to what you were saying...emotions can be so strong..and so depressing sometimes...and words are our way of coping with them..but remember there are always peple around who love and care about you...sometimes families can suck...lm sorry thats so..but I think friends are those we can count on...I wondered whether this was past stuff or recent..but going by other replies I'd guess its recent...good luck in working it out... and i'm a real good listener if you need a semi stranger to unload onto !! take care Tess "What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies." -Aristotle |

This is excellent expression of the passing from the days of uncomplicated youth to the expectations and obligations of becoming an adult. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a Yellow Brick Road that could take us back for a visit to childhood, if only for a day. Good job with this piece. Also, thanks for responding to my poem. Danny |

We are too cowardly to face our problems We just hide behind these useless words. I am not too sure that I agree that these words are useless but I loved your poem! Keep it up! David2 |

***David2, Thankyou for your kind wods. I wrote this poem for a friend and it seemed to me that we seemed to communicate through other peoples words, song lyrics etc. The line about useless words was a reflection on this cowardess. I'm glad you enjoyed. ***Cabes, Darlin', darlin', darlin'. Check your e-mail for a longer read... I want to ask you the same question honey, I admire your talent and courage soooo much... I love you too. Love Lou xxx I am not a preacher, I just speak the world as I see it. |

***Danny, I'm sorry, I seemed to have overlooked your reply. As ever, thankyou for your words. They are greatly appriciated. Maybe one day we will find the contentment we once took for granted in our younger days. I am not a preacher, I just speak the world as I see it. |
