Because I could not stop for love She continued on her way The van she rode in went on by I didn't see which way. Five more years came and went And I began to worry now. Would Love ever stop for me? And if she did so, how? I'd moved away where I had lived. My high school friends were gone. It was late one Sunday afternoon when I was mowing my front lawn. A van stopped short; a young woman hollered, "Do you know a street named Wilde?" I think her eyes were almond-shaped. Twas something magic when she smiled. Since then it's been a decade and We're blessed with two sons- six and eight. Still I wonder did Love really lose her way? Or was she just waiting for me to wait? Nice writing bboog. It looks like in your case love came when you least expected it. James |

BB~ I like this ..... 'And I wonder did Love really lose her way? Or was she waiting for me to wait?' Sometimes we just gotta stand still ! ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

To Jmlee, Marge, Hoot_Owl and Corinne: thank you and warm wishes. This poem is what i call an "art-poem". Kind of like rap music where the musician takes a guitar riff or chord from another work and makes an entirely new one from it. As Hoot_Owl correctly noted, Emily Dickinson is the original artist. People either like them or hate them. I wrote one called Stopping by a Corner (On a Hot Afternoon) and posted it in the Critical Analysis corner, and you should read some of the posts! Anyway, thank you for taking your time to read it! bboog |
