It's the Little Things By bboog Tracked dog-doo across the carpet After my morning run. Cleaning it up before my wife awoke Wasn’t a lot of fun. I drove into the city to the top of a parking mall every parking space was taken I couldn’t believe it. All! Then up ahead- red tail-lights An open spot someone was making. I sneezed and when I looked up My parking spot was taken. For lunch I did a drive-through and five miles later I opened the sack to discover they’d given me the wrong menu. And I hate those cheap tacos. But I bit into one- so hungry was I. And red taco sauce splattered my new tie. Got behind a jackass Chugging 40 miles per hour Cars to my left wouldn’t let me pass him Everyone was sour. Man! Was my boss mad When I finally got back. “Late again!” she hollered. “Next time bring a sack.” I bought some cookies from a colleague Boy did they taste old! Found a cockroach in my coffee mug rubbing his hands like he was cold. Coming home- everybody turning left made it through the light. But me? It was one of those days! If I had only been turning right. When I opened my front door To tell the truth I must admit I was expecting more Bad news. But my two sons greeted me with Big hugs and kisses Smashing my heart into bits of dishes. “Guess what Dad, an ant walked across my lips today at lunch,” said my five-year old. “But I didn’t eat him.” “I got a rare Pokemon card,” said the older one, “You wanna see him?” “Of course I want to see him,” I say. Then they ask me, “Dad, how was your day?” I pause. To tell the truth. “Well, my health was good, the sky was blue, I got two free tacos for lunch. I didn’t make the evening news. And a cockroach with tiny hands Loves my coffee cup at work.” “Wow Dad, that’s really cool!” I guess I have been lucky, I realize to myself. To the kitchen. Kiss my pretty wife We share a glass of wine I help her set the table Then we dine. The four of us Together. [This message has been edited by bboog (edited 03-05-2000).] |

This is delightful, bboog! I've had days pretty near as bad as this! I guess it does all depend on how you look at it!! Denise |

***bboog, I guees your poem goes to show that perspective is paramount. A fantastic piece....I loved it. I am not a preacher, I just speak the world as I see it. |
