THE EYES OF YORE Ever star-stricken, eyes of yore I've fallen to, I've fallen for. By every eidolonic pleasure, Upon each diamond cast, a treasure. With a longing in the lolling Of a voice forever calling. From far heaven's filmy tresses, Or the grave's silk-spun caresses. Sorrows manifest to breathing Beneath the heart, worms in writhing. Independence carving sadness On the mind who meets such madness. Luminous Love, forever tinged By golden radiance infringed. The devil's blackness on the sky, Ever dissevers life from lie. By visage strewn dark, appalling, A star relinquished to falling; Never missed amidst the ashes, By Gods unseen, to earth crashes. Humanity, ever unshaken By the wave of the forsaken. Rides the tide of dawning Death Unto the mist of baby's breath. To stand alone, to stand if ever Within the eye of Fate, but never By Virtue's gaily-jeweled folly, Wakes the wraith of Melancholy. Flitting wings above the banner, In stately stoned, marbled manner. Ebony orbs scouring the floor, Sightlessly staring evermore. Michael Anderson "But dreams of those who dream as I Aspirinly are damned and die." EAP [This message has been edited by Michael (edited 03-03-2000).] |

Glad you all liked it. Was trying seriously to break the monotony of my recent poems. I always seem to fall back into this obscure "Poe" style I think when I'm trying to write something other than just laying out my emotions. Hey, if you want this muse - take it...just send me a happy one, would ya? Thank for the kind replies.... Michael |

Rides the tide of dawning Death Unto the mist of baby's breath." perfect"POE-try"...beautiful and cryptic imagery...another work of art jm When you see through love's illusions, there lies the danger... And your perfect lover just looks like a perfect fool So you go running off in search of a perfect stranger While the loneliness seems to spring from your life Like a fountain from a pool. Nothing wrong with having a Poe quality to your poetry....you're associated with the best. This is excellent work, Michael. |
