I have a friend who means to me More than I can say, And often times, this friend and I With words, we choose to play. Alas, I fear some damage here Upon her heart I pressed From traded words thrown out in play My heart it seems transgressed. The pain I felt was more acute Than swords within my soul That I within could conger up And this unholy motive hold. How do I tell this friend of mine Who's virtue I hold dear, What joy she brings to those around Whenever she is near. For me, I wear a scarlet letter Begotten long ago, To bury passions deep within And seldom let them show. |

INclan, excellent piece of writing here, and the theme is one that has been on my mind of late...the impact and importance of words between two hearts. ~ Claire |

Thank you, Claire, for you kind comments. The "intended" also read this poem, as I had hoped. This was indeed poetry with a purpose beyond the beauty of poetry itself. INclan |

Terrific INclan, enjoyed the read! What comes from the heart goes to the heart. Samuel Coleridge |
