MIRROR MIRROR Mirror mirror on the wall I look but see no face at all. So the question before me now Is no longer who - but how? No vision of the man once there, Lost to invisible despair. My song sung to a soundless chime, My soul forever froze in time. I reach for what I cannot see, The severed hopes of Destiny. By softest touch shattering glass, Only remnants remain, alas. Mirror mirror now I see A hundred fold fragments of me. Slivers of emotion tucked away, Oh, which one will I be today? Why must I view them one by one, Never again in unison? Why can't I hold them all the same To bring reason upon this name. Between the cracks, I see the eyes Of a mirror that never lies. The shattered visage it releases, Holding me, a man in pieces. Michael Anderson 'Tis true, Love lasts forever, Only her memory slips away. [This message has been edited by Michael (edited 02-29-2000).] |

I was hooked from the first two lines -- wonderful work, Michael, as usual. It is gratifying to see you channeling your emotions positively, however dark they may be. The road will become brighter soon, but until then, I will be enjoying your heartfelt poetry. --Kess Full fathom five thy father lies, Of his bones are coral made, Those are pearls that were his eyes; Nothing of him that doth fade But doth suffer a sea-change Into something rich and strange... --William Shakespeare, from The Tempest |

I, too, have found a great release from pain (although of a different kind) in writing. It does help. So keep writing! This is exquisite! Denise |

Michael~ I look at the man and I see ... a mirrored whole-image looking back at me. Through fragments of pain, a man who's whole. No slivers of silver shatter his soul. Through the looking glass the image of the man, Seeing himself as whole again. *Michael - through the pain you've reached new heights in your writing. Ain't that a hell-of-a-note ... to have to hurt that bad ... to write this good! *HUGS* hon. Love ya' ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

Your words match mine each yearn a hunger pang-- listening to the waves-- the song the sirens sang... If I could build a bridge, then you know I would... I would bring you comfort if i thought I could. |

Michael, this is fabulous writing, but your looking in the wrong mirror. This is the mirror of your past, the mirror of your future holds the complete man you are, it reflects the soul that wants to please, it reflects an inner glow from the highest power. The mirror of your past will always hold pieces of your soul, but the mirror of your future holds your life. |

Michael ... Your a very gifted writer ... I do my best not to comment in peoples sorrow ... the wrong answer is too easily said or misunderstood ... Just wanted you to know that I've been down the dismal road you trek ... all the 'what ifs and maybes' that echoed round my head ... still surface occasionally to haunt me One thing I learned through it all is that the future cannot fit in our mold ... until we give it our attention and trim its' edges Rex}<{{{{o> |

I know I've used the expression "I'm shattered"... but you've described those slivers that no longer fit together with piercing accuracy. Another beautiful one, Michael! |

PdV, Now that's funny - I used to scratch my head and wonder how you could write so much when we first met on that other site...Me thinks you may have rubbed off on me. Mistikman - Stand up already, I'm not worthy. Haleyja, I do also, in time perhaps. Kess, I find your poetry equally gratifying, TY Denise, my pen seems glued to my hand of late...I'll keep writing, it is my only release right now. WhtDove, Eating, Sleeping, Working....always writing. Marge, that is a hell of a note, ain't it? Hell of a reply too - Sincerest thanks. Janet, your words alone are a source of healing for me. serenity - comfort comes in many different ways...you have already brought me as much as is possible at this point. Gloria - truly, I needed to hear those words today. Thank you for the reassurance, and the confidence you have in me. Rex, very wise words...where's them shears at anyway? Ruth, many seem to have a different perception than I...I just can't see it. devina, I will do all in my power to keep my spirits up - but remember, Fate is a four letter word... Thank you all for your kind replies. Michael |
