I do not weep, although my loss Seems more than I can bear. How can I listen to the drums When Alex isn't there? His magic fingers on the skins Were tender from the start; Each loving beat revealed to me The music in his heart. It was the music, and his smile That set my heart at ease; How could I help but love the man Who tried so hard to please? His childish antics on the stage An innocence betrayed. For all his life's experience He showed us, when he played, He carried still a child within, One who was quick to care. His heart was like a child's heart, Brimming with love to share. He shared that love with everyone Who let him draw them in With his caring, quick acceptance And his sweet infectuous grin. I know that I have gained because He shared that love with me. He found his way into my heart And became my family. I'll miss him more than words can say. I loved how he would sing Just for me if I asked him to - There wasn't anything That touched my heart the way he did Whenever he would say, "be careful, baby, I love you," In his gentle quiet way. I'll try remembering his eyes, The way he loved his drums; The way he sang his favorite song, Whenever sorrow comes. I will not stand at his grave and weep, That never was his style. Instead I'll choose to walk away Remembering his smile. [This message has been edited by Beki (edited 02-29-2000).] |

Thank you, Mike, Amy and MArge. Alex was the percussionist in my boss's band. He died 3 years ago after having a stroke on his birthday. I miss him very much. |

Beki,First i would like to say Im sorry for the terrible loss that you`ve been thru. I can see that he is now and forever in your dreams and heart. Your piece here has a flow that will most surely put a smile in his heart. Take care and thank you. |

Thank you Ruff Ryder I wrote this on the first anniversary of his death, went to visit his grave, dug a hole under the stone and left a copy of the poem. I like to think he's read it and smiles. |
