Missing ~ Did I turn and miss the moment, When something changed round here?, When the laughter slipped away, Replaced by a lack of cheer. ~ The colours that surround me, Just don’t seem the same, Have they lost their brightness, Does my memory get the blame?. ~ And what of all the flowers, Did they really lose their smell, For when I bend to test them, Their odor I can’t tell. ~ What happened to the food, That evoked a wondrous taste?, In that I’ve lost all interest, My pallet’s gone to waste. ~ And why is a morning sunrise, Just another day, And the ev’ning sunset, Just a night to while away. ~ Things ‘round here have changed, For life has lost it’s for cheer, I remember times much better, When the ones I loved were near. ~ When coming home from work, Wasn’t such a chore, When standing at the sink, Wasn’t such a tireless bore. ~ When the beauty of all nature, Always seemed to be so bright, When I didn’t just lie crying, In the loneliness of night. Slow Down, stop to smell the roses and stroll through the garden of life, it will be a more pleasurable experience. |

Very nice. You have expressed that emptyness very well that is felt when someone who had such a presence is gone. Your words made me feel the loss and that is what good poetry is about....the emotion that can be conveyed in words. Good job! [This message has been edited by Danny Holloway (edited 02-28-2000).] |

A very lovely poem describing loneliness but not so lovely if you are lonely. When I was the loneliest in my life was when I met some of my most beautiful and precious friends and they helped me thru my saddest moments. Take care. James |
