The sun shines through, the clouds depart,
So comes love to the pining heart.
E'er lovers break and love lies spent,
Pain is the stake for encouragement.

Without the pain of nights alone,
There is scant gain from love's atone.
As love's dismiss is to despair,
Pain's the kiss past lovers share.

Love turns the earth thru night to dawn,
Showing its worth in pain now gone.
But, pain's not pitched, it awaits its call,
For each is enriched by the other's fall.

Love is the fire, pain is the heat.
What births the pyre?  These two replete.
Love's price is true, pain sets its mark.
When love burns through, pain is the spark.

Beautiful words, LongJohn.  I am a living testiment to your poem.  Without the pains of my past, I surely couldn't appreciate the love I have found today.  Kudos.

I like the more serious side of you, LJA, thanks!  Too bad as young ones, we cannot know the true depth of these very feelings...

Help!  Help!  Toerag has my heart and brains!!!  Warning!  Warning!  Don't trust suthern Belle!  She'll get yours next!!!!

Thanks for the very nice comments, everybody.  especially you, Toe - a compliment from you is a treasure.

Michael - The bitter does make the sweet that much better, doesn't it?

Sunshine - If you've not known the pain  that only love can bring, you are indeed a fortunate person.  Thank you for your very sweet compliment.

LJA... glad you were able to write this prior to the loss of brains and heart. A fine piece indeed.

LJA, I didn't communicate very well - [I'm not young - LOL] but that young people cannot know real love, and its pain, until they are older, like we have known.

I think that covers what I was really trying to say.

However, I must say, it's been a good 20 years since I've had to suffer greatly...

Queen

Lemme go look for that poem - I wasn't totally satisfied with it because I had meant to go off in another direction - but for you, M'Lady, your wish is my command.

Hi LngJhnAg,

Love and pain, such a muse turned so well into a fine rhyme.  I read it a few times and enjoyed.
