I’ve Been Bitten

Oh, have I been bitten
I guarantee it’s true
It’s really got me its hooks
I don’t know what to do

My body is on fire
My face is flushed with heat
I toss and turn instead of sleeping
I can not eat or drink

Inside, I am left aching
I’m weak upon my feet
My palms are damp and sweaty
My heart it skips a beat

Even though I tried so hard
Its strong grip to avoid
I found I couldn’t run from it
It’s got me, I’m annoyed

Oh yes, have I been bitten
I’ll tell you that it's true
But, it isn't what you think
I simply have the flu

When you truly know the meaning
of the word Love,
you will also know the meaning
of the word Pain

Oh, How this romantic heart turned the tables on me. I hope it's not true, but if so, I send my wishes for a speedy recovery,   poor little owl

Don't feel alone, wise little owl!
I, too, feel like road-kill
My heart goes out to you my friend
I wish you were not ill!

They say misery loves company, but I don't wish this on anyone!

Feel better soon, hoot...

Ruth,
If you really have the flu,
I'll tell you what to do.
Just have a bowl of chicken soup,
It will act just like a coup.
Enjoyed your poem so much. *L* Sy

Thanks everyone...yes, I do have the flu...working on about 6 days of it actually and trying to work at the same time. My hospital doesn't have sick days and hey, got to live some how...although the other day I was wishing I wouldn't...LOL...anyway, thanks for your replies and your thoughts

Hoot: You have my admiration, dear lady... the flu always destroys my sense of humor... and you write a great poem about it! LOL.

I hope you get to feeling better soon!

Hoot I sure hope you get to feeling better soon. The flu always brings me down to my lowest level of crankiness. I lose all sense of humour. You write a great poem about such a humourless subject. Get well soon!!!

hoot, if I'd been bitten by that bug I would certainly not be writing poetry much less be going to work.  You have my admiration and my hope that you feel better very soon.  (who ever heard of such a thing--a hospital with no sick leave--just doesn't make sense)

the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.

I hope you feel better soon, Ruth. Nasty  nasty bug it is going around. Glad to see it's not keeping you from writing, though!
Now eat your soup and get some rest. And take at least one day off from work, will ya?!

I am crawling with those critters
they've been living in my house
at this point in-fluenza
I'd settle for a mouse!
