I was watching this moth, and got interested about the way it surrounded this light so intensely, and watched it literally burn itself out with the heat from the lightbulb. Then i thought of addiction, and tried the parallel. Don't know if its accurate, but i hope there is something there. The moth There is a moth flying around my lampshade He keeps zooming in, then going out Then zooming back in again As if he’s going to miss something What is it about the light that pulls this moth along? Gets driven to frenzy because he can’t turn it off The light seems to make it crazy Drives it to burn its wings on the lightbulb But it keeps coming back for more I’m told this is what addiction is like You try to turn it off, but you have to keep it lit Or you think you’ll die in a way Not really die, but die somewhere inside Give away a piece of you that you can’t retrieve So you turn it back on before its lost Even if you burn your wings Stunt your flight You need more Even though it doesn’t need to be there Its the light having to need to be there That eventually kills the moth |

I like the way you have make the cross to this and the moth. Done well with deep thoughts. Being in love with someone is more than just saying "I love you" |

Addiction can be like this in many ways, glad to see you have us thinking tonight! We can only sit and wonder when the moth is going to get burned enough to finally fly away...and yes, your parallel is acurate. Open arms can be the most fragile in the world... |

I really enjoyed reading this and you did a very good job, comparing the moth with an addiction. |

I think you did an excellent job creating a parallel between the two. There are some definate similarities, that you put across quite well. I enjoyed the read, thank you! May I never be too busy to help another's load, Then I'll be drinking from the saucer 'cause my cup has overflowed. --Author Unknown |
