The letter that was written on a piece of paper, tossed. Told the story of a soldier and the love that he had lost. Back in 1945, at the end of World War II. There was a soldier Franklin and his girlfriend, Mary Sue. For several years they made their plans to be with one another. The love they had was true, for them there was no other. But then one day, two soldiers stood at her front door. And suddenly she knew, that they would be no more. She could no longer bear to stay. So she packed and moved away. She tried so hard to move on with life. But never became anyone's wife. When Franklin learned of the Army's error. He hurried on home so he could tell her. But upon his arrival he found she was gone. And all alone, he was left to carry on. For many years, he searched high and low. Always looking wherever he would go. He settled down in his old homestead. Just him and his faithful dog named Red. Then one day while walking down the street A sweet old woman he, by chance, did meet. Though her hair was tinged with snow, he immediately knew. One look in her eyes told him, it was his Mary Sue. To find each other was a thrill. It was as though time had stood still. Over fifty years had come to pass. And together, they would be at last. |

Thank you everyone for your kind and generous comments. I actually had second thoughts after I posted this one. But I should have known, this place is full of romantics! |
