The angels gaily danced all night
Until the early morn
And God himself smiled with delight
The day my love was born.

The meadows dressed in golden wheat
The fields with yellow corn.
Fruit trees were never quite so sweet
As when my love was born.

Dear Mother Nature bade the flowers
To blossom and adorn
The world in its entirety
The day my love was born.

I smile each time I see her face
No more a heart forlorn.
The world became a better place
The day my love was born.

Beautiful 'deer, just beatiful....

~*Like a lion, without fear of the howling pack,
Like a gust of wind, ne'er trapped in a snare,
Like a lotus blossom, ne'er sprinkled by water,
Let me, like a unicorn, in solitude roam.*~ Hymn Of Buddha

Beautiful, Balladeer!

 It matters not how strait the gate;
How charged with punishments the scroll;
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

But 'deer - just one question...
how were you adorned...?

This, my friend, is exquisite - I love it.

Lovely words Balladeer.  I get the feeling that this is your child that you are talking about.  Whoever she is, she is lucky to have these feelings from you. (of course this could be another fiction)

Echo the sentiments here.  Love makes all things beautiful, without it things aren't nearly as vivid or attractive.  Beautiful poem, Bal.

I read this earlier and didn't comment until it settled inside me, this is beautiful...I know that's what everyone has already said but it is, "her" beauty (whoever she be) shines through the eyes of your love....very nicely crafted poem

I don't know how you do it, but you manage to make an old subject new, sincere without being sticky. It is a tribute that any woman loved, would cherish.

My warmest thanks to you all. Gunslinger is right. This is not my normal style. I don't normally write love poems but the thoughts are always there. Thanks for your kindness. Yes, deVine one, it would make a good card. Martie, it wasn't but it certainly could be.

Just when I felt my defenses were in tact, you once again melt my heart.  This is truly beautiful, Michael.  It's much too early for Merlot...I suppose the tea will have to do.  Simply beautiful.
