Time to Rest for Barbara July 13, 1957 ~ December 8, 1999 Now leave alone your pained and wearied days. Close your eyes and rest, sweet one of mine. Our loving touch will reach through endless ages. Our laughter will reflect life's cherished chime. The time for letting go, for now, is here. Let gripping fingers slip from loving hands. And for this moment know that I am near, as awake and new, with God, your soul expands. So silence now aligns with singing sounds and helpless hours, replaced with ones so blessed, as peaceful songs of promise will ever abound... My sister, gentle one, 'tis time to rest. Incredibly beautiful..I too am sorry for the loss of your sister. *Krista Knutson* ~*Like a lion, without fear of the howling pack, Like a gust of wind, ne'er trapped in a snare, Like a lotus blossom, ne'er sprinkled by water, Let me, like a unicorn, in solitude roam.*~ Hymn Of Buddha |

Denise, Elizabeth, Andrew, Whiskey, hoot owl,Alwye...thank you, dear poets, for extending such comforting words. My sister was my best friend, and this battle with cancer, at times, feels as though it has depleted my spirit and left me vacant inside. Thank you for the caring thoughts. I have become quite the recluse the past few weeks, but have enjoyed peering out a bit here in your forum. Love and shared peace, Claire |

Claire, a wonderful and moving poem that steers clear of sentimentality and instead grasps life's beautiful moments. Thanks for sharing. It's my belief that sometimes the best way to get over something -- whether it be loss, sorrow, anger, or any combination of these -- is write your feelings down. I especially love "life's chime." What a great piece -- dare I say it? -- of art! Mike |

Mike, I agree with your philosophy about writing as a means of examining and dealing with loss, and I'm working on it. Thank you so much for your kind response to my poem. Claire |

Instant tears. Oh, I am so terribly sorry for the loss you have suffered, so very recently - your sister and best friend in one - what a terrible grief. My heart goes out to you. How sweet you were to extend care to me, when you, yourself is suffering so! ...Living is ever like crossing rivers; finding a new life on each shore ... RJG |

Rosemary, The commencement of healing is so often found in the outreached hand. By reaching, we begin to heal. Thank you so much for your heartfelt words. Claire |
