In the Wake of a Millennium A Prayer for my Sponsored Child May happiness be yours throughout the year Beside a warming hearth of love and care In safety and in warmth and free from fear Content in faith, and love in God's aware Protected from the hands of evil souls Enriched by all the wonders you embrace Not ever deviating from your goals To learn and live with pride upon your face And may your loved ones find prosperity May each one seek to find a better way Equipped to conquer life's severity These are the things I pray for New Years Day Embrace these blessings from a loving heart Roberto Carlos, son so far apart Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 01-01-2000).] |

Just beautiful Liz...... Have you sent this to Roberto? A soul that writes from the heart and shares it, truly gives a gift extraordinaire! Shannon |

Thanks for the comments I am happy in the structure of this verse but not the poem itself. I wrote this so hurriedly, but this could be more fluid and more beautiful a sonnet. It doesn't sing to me, and that's what poetry should do, especially a sonnet. I've got a long road ahead yet to master this form, but I appreciate your comments. Thanks Hoot for the e-mail Liz |

Absolutely beautiful! ~*~ Hell is not a place of fire and a devil with a tail and horns. But a place of torment because the light of God is gone. To escape this, accept the blood of Jesus Christ! ~*~ |

Elizabeth, we're usually our own worst critics... You're no exception... This is a lovely sonnet... ![]() |

I think you made Nan's day with the Iambic pentameter thing. I agree with her though, you are your own worst critic, this is very good. Michael |
